Jack and I met as 4-year olds. We were neighbors out on Prospect Road. We became quick friends and played together every day. We even became "blood brothers" one day when we both pricked our fingers and held them together swearing to be "friends forever". I moved over to E. Cross street a couple years after we met but Jack and I remaind friends. I lost track of him (and everyone else at Ypsi High) when I moved to Iowa the summer of 1962. However, when I was told Jack died of wounds he suffered in Vietnam, I was devistated. That war became real and personal. It took my "blood brother". My "friend forever". I promised myself I would visit the "Wall" in DC as soon as I could to specifically look for Jack's name and thank him for his sacrifice. I didn't get to DC until I was 42, but I did it and I did it with my family. We found Jack's name and as I touched it I broke down and cried. I thought about being with my family and that he would never be with his. I thanked him and told him I would never forget him. Rest in peace Jack. You have never been forgotten! Your friend forever. Went to school with jack from kindergarten through 12th grade. Great friend. Remember when jack would bring mouse skins in to school and show them to mrs Kansan in 6th grade. He was one of the famous seven that jumped out of the windows at prospect elementary and ran home. Yates got mrs Kansan to go to the library as a decoy.
saw jacks name on the wall in DC when I lived there, very sad day. He was a great guy, Think of him often.

Jack was one funny funny man! I still tell great stories about him. I miss him as well. Hope to see him again, but not too soon.
