Maryann Minier (Koebbe)

Maryann (Minier) Koebbe Obituary(Minier) Koebbe, Maryann 6/7/1945 - 4/2/2020 Ypsilanti, MI/Tampa, FL Maryann (Minier) Koebbe, 74, passed away peacefully in Tampa, FL on April 2, 2020, after a very brief illness. Born in Detroit, MI on June 7, 1945 Maryann was raised by Bob and Dorothy Minier in Ypsilanti, MI. She was blessed to have a second mother figure in her life whom she spent much time with, our beloved Aunt Winnie. They all preceded her in death. Maryann graduated from Ypsilanti High School in 1963 and had a 45-year career in the steel industry. She lived her entire life in the Ann Arbor/Ypsilanti areas until she moved to Tampa in 2019 to be closer to family there. Maryann is survived by her son, Mark Patton of Ypsilanti, MI; daughter Kelly (Patton) Allen; son-in-law of 21 years, Brad Allen; and the love-of-her life grandson, Braden "Pooh Bear" Allen, all of Tampa, FL. Her best friend since birth, whom she considered her sister, Trudy Lay of Ypsilanti, MI also survives. Maryann enjoyed reading, traveling and entertaining – and she loved to laugh. One of her greatest joys was making people feel welcome in her home and ensuring everyone around her had a great time. If you went anywhere with Maryann, you were sure to meet many people along the way – she truly never met a stranger. She was blessed with a close circle of lifelong friends and was loved by many. Those who knew Maryann knew she never wanted a funeral or wanted anyone to be sad about her passing. We can still hear her saying, "I don't want some big, sad gathering. You all should have a party and celebrate." While we will miss her terribly and are heartbroken by her passing, we are honoring her wishes and trying to focus on the many amazing memories of her in our hearts. Her close friends and family will gather for a celebration of life at a later, yet to be determined time.Published in Ann Arbor News on Apr. 12, 2020
