GLORIA'S OBITUARY

At the age of 75, Gloria J. Chandler Lewis peacefully passed away in Surprise, AZ with her husband by her side.

Gloria was born October 23, 1945 in Ypsilanti, Michigan, the daughter of James and Patsy Chandler. She was physically active as she grew up; participating in tennis, precision drills and running. She also worked for Ford Motor Company Wayne Assembly and retired in 1986.

Gloria moved to Arizona in October 2004 with her new spouse, Charles Lewis. She joined Phoenix First Assembly of God (later called the Dream Center Church) and consequently Skyway Church of the West Valley where she was active in women's missions and other activities. Gloria loved studying her Bibles and sharing with others. She became a volunteer with Life Stream Senior Center for more than seven years where she was selected as “Volunteer of the Year” in 2014.

Gloria always greeted everyone she met with a smile and told them she loved them. Her key source of support over the years was her only child, Katrina Noyd. Gloria loved her five grandchildren and her four great grandchildren. She was very close to her siblings as well.

Among her achievements, Gloria was a model, a licensed florist, a certified interior decorator and an artist. Gloria loved riding her bicycle and she loved to dance. She often credited her mother for the great work she did to raise funds for student scholarships. She had nothing but praise for her friends and acquaintances.

Gloria is survived by: her husband Charles Lewis; her only child Katrina Noyd; her grandchildren Eric, Cherrelle, Erin, Sade and Scotty Noyd; her four great grandchildren, Eli, Berkeley Rose, Angelina and Athena Noyd; goddaughter Melody Attipoe; her siblings, James, John, Ronald, Gregory and Patrick Chandler; a host of half siblings including Karen Austin and Sandy Parker; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other family members and friends.

She was predeceased by her parents James & Patsy Chandler and oldest brother Lawrence Rucker.

The funeral service will be 10:30 am Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Second Baptist Church, 301 S. Hamilton Street, Ypsilanti where the family hour will be from 9 am until time of service. Rev. George Waddles Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow in United Memorial Gardens.

Most of all, she loved God
